The import process checks to see if a tax detail already exists in Dynamics GP prior to creating a new tax detail. If an existing tax detail is found, it will be updated to reflect the settings contained in the Import Source.

Details are identified by the following properties:

• Tax Detail ID prefix.
  • State Code
  • Tax type - sales or purchases
  • Jurisdiction Level
• Tax Location geocode
• Location Code
• Tax Authority
• Jurisdiction type
  • City
  • City Local (district)
  • City Override
  • County
  • County Local (district)
  • County Override
  • State
  • State Override
• Range type
  • Applies to sales amount up to max.
  • Applies to sales amount above max.

If a matching tax detail is not found, a new tax detail will be created.

As of build 82, the tax rate is also taken into account. This works by scanning through any details what register as a match based on the above criteria to see if one of those matching details has the rate being imported. If so, it is selected as the match. If no matching rate is found and a record that matches the above criteria exists, it will be selected as the match.
