The KampData Tax Engine uses the DynamicZip Setup window to control tax schedule selection. It automatically selects a Tax Schedule based on the Tax Location.

Based on the city, county, state, and ZIP Code selected, The KampData Tax Engine will provide the default tax schedule ID, description, and initial tax rate. Tax schedule selection can be further controlled by specifying taxable/exempt and in/out of city limits.

Generally the use of the standard ZIP Code schedules is all that is required. However there are situations where taxability exceptions must be made for specific item categories, customer categories, ship-to addresses, etc. As of TaxEngine v.2 the KampData TaxEngine™ uses the DynamicZip™ Tax by Item Category and Customer Supplement settings to manage taxability. (In Version 1, taxability is controlled via the Customer Tax Location window or the Item Tax Location window. Tax Matrix Setup provides a third way to implement these overrides and exceptions.)
