Tax Detail Description

The Tax Detail Description in Microsoft Dynamics GP is a 30 character string used to describe the Tax Detail. Tax Details that get created by DynamicZip as part of the Rate & Boundary Import process have the following Tax Detail Description Format:

  1. The name of the city, county and or state for which the tax is being assessed.
  2. If the tax detail overrides the normal tax rate for that county or state, the name will be followed by a “/” and one of the following: “N” for County, “L” for County Local, “T” for City or “Y” for City Local followed in turn by the name of the city or county for which the normal tax rate has been overridden.
  3. Followed by the designation “City”, “County” or “State” (for which the tax is being assessed, not for which it may be overridden).
  4. Followed by “S” for sales tax rate or “U” for use tax rate.
  5. If this is an exempt tax detail, there will be an “X” in character 30 of the description.

Tax Detail Description Suffix

In certain circumstances DynamicZip appends a suffix to the tax detail description. For example when the tax rate changes at a designated taxable amount, the rate above the designated amount has (Ovr) appended in the right most characters of the description. One example is “APACHE JUNCTION City S (Ovr)”.

This suffix was inadvertently removed in the following builds:

For all builds a rate can be identified as applying above a designated amount when the tax detail Include value is not equal to Full Amount and the Taxable Amount Min is not equal to zero.
