Rate and Boundary Import Benchmarks

The initial Rate & Boundary Import typically takes substantially longer than subsequent imports. The initial import adds thousands of records to the SQL tables and builds the appropriate indexes. Subsequent imports add, modify and remove relatively few records by comparison and typically take less than half as long as the initial import.

August 23, 2010 Initial import (SQL Optimized) of all states sales tax on HP Compaq 6005 Pro MT PC (AMD Phenom II X4 B95 Processor with 12GB RAM running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit) using DynamicZip build 73 for Microsoft Dynamics GP R11 (GP 2010) took 12 minutes and 27 seconds. This machine also serves as the SQL Server. This was the only process running at the time. The import process added 75,330 taxable and 75,330 exempt ZIP Code Tax Schedules. The process also added 10,049 taxable and 10,049 exempt tax details. The Zip+4 Option was enabledand 32,334 county setup records were created. The August 2010 ZIPsales database imported.

May 15, 2008 Initial import (non-optimized) of all states sales tax on Ehwaz (Intel Core 2 CPU 6400 @ 2.13GHz with 4GB RAM running Windows Visa Business sp1) using DynamicZip build 72 for Microsoft Dynamics GP R10 took 1 hour and 7 minutes. This machine also serves as the SQL Server. This was the only process running at the time. The import process added 64, 032 taxable and 64,032 exempt ZIP Code Tax Schedules. The process also added 10,354 taxable and 10,354 exempt tax details. Neither Zip+4 Option was enabled. May 2008 ZIPsales database imported.

August 14, 2007 Initial import on Janus (AMD Athlon MP 2400+ 2.00GHz with 2GB RAM running Windows Server 2003 ) using DynamicZip build 71 for Microsoft Dynamics GP R10 took 2 hours and 55 minutes. This machine also serves as the SQL Server. This was the only process running on the server at the time. The import process added 74,956 taxable and 74,956 exempt Zip Code Tax Schedule The process also added 12,114 taxable and 12,114 exempt tax details. The Zip+4 Option was not enabled. July 2007 ZIPsales database imported.

The process also added 12,119 taxable and 12,119 exempt tax details. The Zip+4 Option wasenabled. Aug 2007 ZIPsales database imported.
