Customer Address Correction

How can I update a large number of customer address records?

DynamicZip provides a way for you to automate the process of updating your customer address records based on the DZ Zip Address table. This process assumes that the ZIP Code contained in the customer address records is correct, and will then update the city and state to match the spelling contained in the DZ Zip Address table.

This process starts by validating the city, state, and ZIP Code already contained in the customer address record. If that combination of city, state, and ZIP Code exists in the DZ Zip Address table, then the customer address record will not be modified.

You should use the DZ Customer Address Correction window (a.k.a. DZ Address Correction window) after;

NOTES: If the customer address record does not contain a ZIP Code or if the ZIP Code does not exist in the DZ Zip Address table then the Address Correction routine will not be able to update the customer address record.

If the Auto Correct City option is off (in the DynamicZip Setup window customer addresses located in ZIP Codes where there is more than one possible city will not be modified by the Address Correction routine.

Limit to Range

Select this check box to limit the update to a range of Customer IDs (If starting and ending customer IDs are left blank, all IDs will be included).

Operation

You can choose to run just the report to verify which zip addresses if any, will be updated. The Update & report option will run the update, and then print a report of all zip addresses that were updated.

Compare Country

Select this check box to have DynamicZip compare by country. For example, if Compare Country is selected and the ZIP Address table has USA in the country field for a particular city, state, and ZIP Code, but the address being verified does not have USA in the country field, country in the address record will be updated to USA. If on the other hand, Compare Country is not selected, the verify will not even check the country fields.

Report

Select All to print a report of all exceptions. Select Enabled to print a report that includes only exceptions for states that have ZipAddressing enabled. Select Changes to print a report that includes only the exceptions that DynamicZip can change.

Update all states

This process can be run on all states by selecting this check box or can be limited to the states listed in the States included scrolling window.

Preview Button

Use the Preview button to preview the changes that will be made during the process.

Process Button

The Process button will update your customer address records based on the DZ Zip Address table.
