Line 1: Line 1:
 +====== Unable to open dictionary: .../KD581R.DIC ======
 +
+The file KD581R.DIC contains any modifications that you make to DynamicZip reports. The original report is stored in KD581.DIC (the DynamicZip application dictionary) and is not modified. After modifying a report, you must grant security to each user and company that will be using that report. This is done by choosing Setup >> System >> Security from the menu.
 +
+The above error indicates that the report you are trying to print has been modified and you have been granted security to it - but the file KD581R.DIC is either missing, damaged, or no longer contains the current report. When this occurs, the problem is complicated by the fact that you will probably not be able to revoke the security - you can't grant or revoke security to a report that does not exist.
 +
+Try running the Microsoft Dynamics GP Reconcile Utility to correct this situation. This utility can be accessed via Tools >> Utilities >> System >> Reconcile >> Security Restrictions.
 +
+Alternately creating a KD581R.DIC that is not damaged and contains the current report will get you past this dilemma.
 +
+**One way to accomplish this is as follows:**
 +
+  - Rename the file KD581R.DIC if it currently exists, keeping the .DIC extension. (The copy we are concerned about can be located by referring to the path as listed in the DYNAMICS.SET file being used by your workstation.)
+  - Print the report that you are experiencing the problem with to the screen. While it is displayed on the screen, choose Tools >> Customize >> Modify Current Report from the menu. This will create the report dictionary if it is missing. It will also insert the current report into the dictionary. Close the layout window and click OK to save the inserted report definition. From the File menu, choose Microsoft Dynamics GP to return to your accounting system.
+  - At this point you should be able to see and modify the security record.
 +
 +**To modify the security record:**
 +
+  - Select Setup >> System >> Security from the menu.
+  - Select the appropriate User ID and Company.
+  - Select DynamicZip as the product, Modified Reports as the Type, and Sales or 3rd Party (depending on the report) as the Series.
+  - At this point you should see the modified report in the Access List. Double click the report to remove the asterisk. With the asterisk cleared, that user should once again be using the standard DynamicZip report in that company. You may have to repeat this process for each user and company.
 +
 +**To preserve the modified report:**
 +
+If you have a copy of the original KD581R.DIC that contains the modified version of the report, you may be able to salvage it by using the Import feature of the Microsoft Dynamics GP Report Writer. Please refer to the Microsoft Dynamics GP documentation or online help for more information on this feature.
