====== How can we setup and use DynamicZip Tax By Item Category feature? ======

To enable and use [[dynamiczip:features:tbic:Tax By Item Category]], you could perform the following steps.

  - Enable Tax By Item Category on the [[dynamiczip:windows:DynamicZip Setup window]]. 
  - Create an [[dynamiczip:glossary:Item Category]] in the [[dynamiczip:windows:DZ Item Category Maintenance window]]. 
  - Assign one or more items to your [[dynamiczip:glossary:Item Category]] with the [[dynamiczip:windows:DZ Item Supplement window]]. 
  - Setup rules to control how the items in your new [[dynamiczip:glossary:Item Category]] are taxed from the [[dynamiczip:windows:DZ Tax By Item Category Setup window]]. 

In most situations where [[dynamiczip:features:tbic:Tax By Item Category]] is used, the inventory items have been setup with a Sales Tax Option of "Base on customers" in the Item Maintenance window. 

To change an item's category based on which state the sale is located in, you can use the [[dynamiczip:windows:DZ Item Category Override window]].

**NOTE:** By pressing the Print button on the DZ Tax By Item Category Setup window you can get a report of the current TBIC rules you have in place. This print/report functionality can help when you are reviewing your taxability settings.

**NOTE:** If [[dynamiczip:features:schedule_assignment:Tax Schedule Selection|Assign Tax Schedule]] is disabled in the DynamicZip Setup window, TBIC will also be disabled.
