How do I choose which report option to use?

DynamicZip provides two types of tax reports. We refer to these two types as Document Centric and Detail Centric.

Document Centric

Document centric reports assume that all the charges on each document have a single tax location. In other words, if your document includes multiple ship-to's, then document centric reports will be of little value to you. However if each document has but one tax location, document centric reports can be very helpful. Document centric reports are particularly useful when reporting sales or use tax when all of the tax collected in a jurisdiction is reported as a combined amount. In other words, you do not have to report state, county and/or city tax on separate lines or fields of the tax return.

If you cannot use document centric reports because your documents include multiple ship-to's, detail centric reports sorted properly can provide the required information.

Generally speaking the best choice for a document centric report is the Option E Tax Report.

If you prefer to see the report results in a spreadsheet format, then you should choose the Option F Tax Report.

Detail Centric

Detail centric reports are most useful when the tax return requires you to report state, county and/or city tax on separate lines or fields of the tax return.

Generally speaking, the best choice for a detail centric report is the Option C Tax Report.

If you prefer to see the report results in a spreadsheet format, then you should choose the Option D Tax Report.
