Bad Break Field

How do I fix a Bad Break Field error?

The error message, “Bad break field in an additional footer or header. Recheck.” may be caused by an issue with the DynamicZip modified report dictionary (The KD581R.DIC file found in your Microsoft Dynamics GP Data folder).

This error indicates a problem with a modified report. This error can be avoided by removing the user's access to the modified report which will cause the unmodified DynamicZip report to print. Alternately, the following steps can help you recover and continue to use the modified report.

To resolve this issue, the DynamicZip modified report dictionary, KD581R.DIC, can be renamed to KD581R-old.DIC prior to logging into Microsoft Dynamics GP Any existing modified reports that you needed to continue using can then be imported into a new KD581R.DIC. Here are the steps:

  1. Logged out and closed Microsoft Dynamics GP
  2. Using Windows Explorer, locate the Microsoft Dynamics GP installation folder.
  3. Locate the file KD581R.DIC, and rename it to KD581R-old.DIC.
  4. Start and log into Microsoft Dynamics GP .
  5. Open the Report Writer feature (Tools » Customize » Report Writer).
  6. Select DynamicZip from the Product drop down list, and press the OK button (This step will automatically create a new KD581R.DIC file).
  7. Press the Reports button to open the Report Writer window.
  8. Press the Import button to open the Import Reports window.
  9. Press the lookup button, “…”, to find and select the KD581R-old.DIC file.
  10. Select and insert the Source Dictionary Reports that need to be retained.
  11. Press the Import button.
  12. Press the Close button.
  13. Close out of Report Writer by going back into Microsoft Dynamics GP (File » Microsoft Dynamics GP).

NOTE: The old report dictionary, KD581R-old.DIC, is not used after the above steps are completed. You can choose to delete or retain this file as you see fit.
